In the Mood for a Deli?

I know, I know. Some of you are wondering why I’m back so soon. I don’t write for well over a month and then I post twice in a few days. Is this guy bi-polar? Has he forgotten that he just posted? Does he really have something new to say?

No, no, and yes.

I didn’t just begin writing after I retired in 2018. Oh no. I had more time and means after full-time teaching for sure, but I’ve been writing stories for decades, jotting them down in free time, not knowing if I’d ever write more seriously. Those stories lay dormant. Until now.

I wrote a few novels after retiring (Chasing Rainbows and Dogs that Won’t Hunt, followed by At the Intersection of Grief and Grace), but I still had quite a few random short stories scattered about. There’s no real theme or overall pattern here, just a motley collection of shorts. Variety-thus the deli theme. Since Grief and Grace, I’ve been revising and honing, settling on a cover, adapting to Amazon’s self-publishing standards, making sure to dot all the i’s and cross the t’s. You get the idea.

I’ve been promising this book for many months now. Both online and in person, many have asked, “When will your next book come out?” I would just sigh. It’s been a frustrating burden at times. But we persevere through those tasks worth finishing.

Today, I present Tales from the Deli! Finally, finally, it’s live on Amazon and ready for purchase.

I’m very excited about this one. Honestly, I think it’s my best work yet. I’d love to get feedback from y’all. They’re all short stories (plus two poems), bite-sized and ready to eat. And (obviously), share the links with others.

Now, it’s on to book #4.

Yay! A third book. I am so excited to read your stories and two poems. Like Thomas Paine, you can turn a phrase!
